Mayor’s Reception

The Mayor’s reception – Celebrating Volunteering in Uckfield – on Saturday 26 April will be raising money for Wealden Volunteering to support the People need People project which has been Karen Bedwell’s initiative for her Mayoral year 2024/2025.

The People Need People project, aims to strengthen the bond between local volunteer groups, charities and businesses. Working with and supported by the Chamber and Wealden Volunteering, this initiative encourages charities to seek business support for their practical needs, such as financial advice, marketing strategies, or hands-on assistance. e.g.  decorating and landscaping from skills pursuant to a business skill set. Simultaneously, it motivates businesses to embrace their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) offering their expertise and resources.

By fostering these partnerships, the project not only helps charities thrive but also provides businesses with opportunities to enhance their reputation, boost employee morale, and contribute positively to the community. Together, making a significant impact and continuing to build a strong community  in Uckfield.

Here at the Chamber, we are supporting the People need People project for 2025 and would encourage businesses, both small and large to attend the Mayor’s reception to help support and fundraise  for the project but to also use it as a good networking opportunity to meet other businesses and volunteer based groups and to see how CSR can be achieved with the best outcome for both parties.

Tickets for the Mayor’s reception are priced at £25, to include a light buffet and entertainment, and are available from the Civic Centre website HERE.
