…especially if it accompanies some great networking opportunities!

Ridgewood Village Hall, a venue that does such wonderful work within our community, was the venue on a warm, sunny August Friday morning from 7.30am. A not too uncivilised hour is the usual start time for our bi-monthly in-person breakfasts event, allowing attendees to mingle to chat and get the final working day of the week off to a great start.

We do pride ourselves here at the Chamber that we take our breakfast networking meetings around the town and surrounding villages. No same venue usually within a 12-month period is the general rule.

Breakfast is arguably the most important meal of the day and what a culinary treat we enjoyed, courtesy of the Wealden Kitchen. Something really for all tastes, from smoked salmon, Parma ham, fresh berries with yoghurt, plus croissants and pastries and the headline offering on a choice of bread. Once the almost 40 people had food in front of them, we could begin the 60-second round!

Just a single minute for each participant to share their ‘elevator pitch’, innovatively named after the length of time it takes to ride a New York lift! It’s not mandatory to participate although almost everyone does and it’s great to hear from so many chamber members.

Our speaker did not disappoint. Geoffrey Dennis is a recent addition to the Wealden Volunteering board and spoke about the opportunities and benefits for businesses to step up with their local Corporate Social Responsibility. Geoffrey shared some of his background leading organisations globally like the Red Cross and Care International often with Royal approval.

We know that local businesses are keen to help although sometimes, it’s a question of some guidance on how best to use their skills for the greater good. If you’d like some support with your CSR, please approach Wealden Volunteering or we can put you in touch via the Chamber.
