Hold the date; always the first Friday in December so on the 5th of the month this year! The organising committee have been plotting all things festive since the summer months and of course, your Chamber of Commerce are pleased to lead on this.

Plans are well underway with all your usual favourites including Santa in Olive’s Yard courtesy of Uckfield Lions and be sure to say hello to Frozen characters, Elsa and Olaf walking the High Street courtesy of French’s Fancy Dress!

The good people of Bridge Cottage will be hosting an array of activities as will our Civic Centre, with both Universal Dance and Happy Me Dance performing in the space immediately outside the Civic Centre. Adjacent to this area, you’ll be able to walk back in time to that very first Christmas, thanks to both Kings Church and the Baptist Church who are once again, presenting to Uckfield, ‘The Nativity’. And the Fairtrade stall will be open at the Cornerstone Church. Both the Civic Centre and Cornerstone Church will offer toilets for public use, although please have respect for cafes / restaurants and only use their facilities as a customer or unless they’ve said otherwise.

Please do follow the magical Art & Crafts Trail  with four locations this year, at estate agents Freeman Forman and Oakfield Property, plus Premier Travel agency and Specsavers! They will be hosting local artists presenting their original art & craft, creating a lovely Christmas shopping experience. Our thanks to Helen Preston of Victoria Pavilion Arts for organising the Art Trail.

Added to the entertainment will be plenty of your usual favourite food and drink stalls, including a Hog Roast at the top of the town at Bishops the Butchers. So, absolutely no need to eat before you leave home to join in the Festive fun! And at the other end of town, we’re delighted at the return of East Sussex Fire & Rescue, complete with Fire Engine!

Our ‘Hunt the Elf’ competition will be back across various shops up and down the High Street and you can find out the locations elsewhere in this publication. The central stage, outside of Hartfields, will host both school choirs with adult choirs and musicians too, performing all your festive favourites.

We do hope that everyone will enjoy a fabulous and safe festive occasion to kick start the Christmas season here in Uckfield. See you there!
