Lack of Funding in your Business?

Don’t let a lack of funding hold back the growth of your business!

That’s the clear message from Business East Sussex to all businesses in the Uckfield area. Business East Sussex is the government’s Growth Hub for East Sussex – there are some 38 Growth Hubs strategically located across the country. They provide businesses with support for growth, expansion and development. The Business East Sussex services is run by the well known enterprise agency, Let’s Do Business, based in St Leonard’s-on-Sea.

Uckfield based business adviser and mentor, Chris Dowling, is the Business East Sussex service local representative, covering the north of the county, including Uckfield, Crowborough, Wadhurst and Forest Row and the local villages.

It’s easy to check out the eligibility of your business and to apply for support. As a government service it’s available to all businesses (not corporations and PLCs) and it’s FREE. The service is especially suitable for SMEs and family businesses which are already trading, but want to grow and expand. The service is also suitable for start-up businesses and people who are setting off into the world of self-employment.

Match-funded grants (not re-payable) are available to businesses for up to 30% to help fund a wide range of items which will increase sales, improve productivity and boost profits. For example, a project costing £10,000, a grant of £3,000 could be available, leaving the business owner to fund £7,000 – all grants are subject to an application process.

The advice to business owners from Chris Dowling is – ‘if you have plans for growth and investment to grow your business, call me to ask about grant support’. Chris continues – ‘grants are available for anything from new equipment and machinery to an improved website, software development, marketing and moving premises, to name just a few’.

If you’re not looking for a grant but want other business support or services to help grow or change your business, Business East Service provides access to services, including training, apprenticeships, product development, innovation and export advice.
