Beacon Down vineyard occupies 18 acres of the beautiful High Weald, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

On holiday in 2012, Paul & Alice started having one of those ‘what if’ conversations and decided that it was now or never. Paul took the first steps and gained his Diploma in Wine Production from Plumpton College and in 2014, they found an ideal site just outside Cross-in-Hand. They were immediately struck with the potential and fell in love with the stunning views to the South Downs and the sea beyond. Having sold their London flat and made the move to Sussex to start a new life, the vineyard beckoned.

Paul & Alice run all aspects – tending to the vines, selling and packing up the wine for delivery, leading tours and preparing delicious picnics. They’ve had excellent feedback and awards – come and take in the fabulous views and sample the latest wines. Parking and seating is available on-site – feel free to call to arrange a bespoke tour or event.

“Really lovely vineyard experience. Warm welcome and fascinating tour around this unpretentious family start-up business. Excellent picnic lunch in a beautiful location and delicious wine. Can’t wait to sample their first sparkling wine when it becomes available later this year. Highly recommended!” Susan, August 2019
