How do you like your eggs in the morning? ‘Served as part of a Full English at a local pub’, we hear you say! Our breakfast networking events are very nearly always on a Friday as it’s a great way to end the working week, and the penultimate Friday of June was no exception.

Greeted with a choice of freshly made coffee or an English breakfast tea, the busy Highlands Inn was soon full of the buzz of making new business acquaintances and re-establishing old ones.

The majority of those who attend these early morning events are Chamber members although no fewer than five non-members attended this one mainly from the Uckfield area. It really is a super way to get to know, like and trust people.

Once everyone had been served their breakfast, the 60-second round began, with informative updates on what’s new in attendee businesses. Chris from the Expert Insurance Group made a valid point that they simply don’t break from tradition as you’ll speak to a person when calling their local Uckfield office! Paul from PS Tech had spent some time last week at a trade show in Dublin where he managed to lose his passport although could still return on a driving licence photo i/d. And Gary from Ashdown Radio reminded us that there are a few remaining places at the Wealden Expo on 10 July.

Guest Speaker

We were pleased to welcome Jo from chamber member, UK Growth Coach as our speaker. There are always opportunities for established members to share their expertise at these events. Jo reminded us that when starting in business we’d do well to remember that we’re more likely to succeed if we do something we really enjoy and we’re also good at it; the two are usually mutually exclusive. And then the third strand would be to ensure that there is a need. Taking this base, Jo shared ideas for business growth explaining the levels of growth from start-up to ultimately, exit.

Join us next time

The breakfast events make a great start to a day and end to a week. Why not join us at the next one, on Friday 15 August from 7.30am.
