The Art Market returns to Victoria Pavilion this February, following a highly successful launch last year, and continues to demonstrate the important role community-led events play in supporting the local economy and creative industries. Taking place on Sunday 15 February, Uckfield’s own “Affordable Art Fair” offers a chance to shop local, support creative talent, and directly contribute to community wellbeing.
Featuring 13 local artists, this year’s market showcases an eclectic and high-quality range of work, from original artworks and limited-edition prints to cards, gifts, and affordable art pieces. By providing a professional and accessible platform for artists to sell directly to the public, Victoria Pavilion Arts helps sustain small creative businesses and keeps spending within the local economy.
Independent artists face many of the same pressures as other small businesses, particularly when competing with large high-street and online retailers. Events such as the Art Market help level the playing field by increasing visibility, encouraging direct sales, and fostering meaningful relationships between creators and customers. All participating artists will be present on the day, offering visitors the opportunity to learn more about their creative processes and the stories behind their work — making for a far more personal and rewarding experience.
The February timing is especially significant, as it provides artists with an income boost during a traditionally quieter period. Visitors benefit from access to affordable art and the opportunity to purchase unique, locally made products with clear provenance.
Beyond supporting artists, the Art Market also raises funds for community benefit. Proceeds from entry donations and pop-up café sales directly support Victoria Pavilion Arts’ Arts for Wellbeing programme, which uses creativity to promote positive mental health and wellbeing across the community. The event also supports the ‘Just a Card’ campaign, reinforcing the message that even small purchases can make a meaningful difference to these independent creative businesses.
By attending the Art Market, visitors are helping to strengthen the creative economy, support community wellbeing initiatives, and celebrate the value of shopping local….And With a welcoming café open throughout the day and a vibrant, friendly atmosphere, the Art Market promises to be a celebration of creativity, connection, and community.
So do come along, discover the wealth of artistic talent on your doorstep, and support a local event where every purchase — and every visit — truly makes a difference.
