More than 50 guests gathered at the beautiful Buxted Park Hotel last week for the latest Uckfield Chamber of Commerce members’ meeting.
The bi-monthly members’ meetings are a flagship fixture in the Chamber calendar, giving members the opportunity to catch up with fellow local businesspeople, hear the latest Chamber news and learn from a guest speaker.
The September meeting returned to the hotel’s impressive Ballroom, with guests also having exclusive use of the Coat of Arms lounge and adjoining bar area.
Members and their guests arrived from 6pm, enjoying a drink and half an hour of informal networking before the formal meeting got underway at 6.30pm.
Supporting local businesses
Chamber President Chris Dowling opened the meeting with a rundown of everything that’s happening in the Chamber. He then invited Tara Capon of Buxted Park Hotel to say a few words about the beautiful venue and its upcoming events, including the Christmas parties.
Attendees then also heard from some of the Chamber’s newest members, who gave a short introduction about what they do.
The evening’s guest speaker was Dr Adam Jones from the University of Brighton, who introduced members to the Help to Grow programme.
With a focus on workforce development, leadership and strategic business growth, Adam shared information about how the programme can support businesses looking to develop their people and grow their organisations.
The meeting closed with Director Ian Noble giving a roundup of all the upcoming Chamber events, including the Uckfield Business Awards and Late-Night Shopping.
The formal meeting was followed by a delicious buffet, giving members another opportunity to network, catch up and continue conversations from earlier in the evening, with the bar remaining open for those who fancied another drink.
