What better way to celebrate St George’s Day than by bringing together local businesses for good conversation, fresh connections, and a hearty breakfast.

Around 40 professionals from across the Uckfield area gathered at the beautiful setting of Trading Boundaries near Fletching, for a morning of relaxed business networking and relationship building.

Open to both members and non-members, the event offered a welcoming space for people to meet, mingle and connect over tea, coffee or juice – setting the tone for a friendly and collaborative morning.

Breakfast and business chat

Once everyone had arrived, guests were invited to take their seats and, table by table, help themselves to a delicious hot buffet breakfast.

With plates filled and conversations flowing, it was time for the ever-popular 60-second pitches. One by one, attendees stood to introduce themselves and share how they support their clients.

The diversity in the room was clear, with a fantastic mix of businesses represented – from lawyers and writers to a nutritionist and a travel agent – highlighting the breadth of expertise within the local business community.

Menopause matters

We then welcomed our speaker, Kathryn Colas from the Kathryn Colas Academy, who delivered an insightful and engaging talk on managing the menopause in the workplace.

Kathryn highlighted that the menopause is not just a women’s issue – it affects colleagues, families and workplaces too.

Sharing her own personal experiences, she spoke candidly about the impact it’d had on her and her husband. She said he’d described the menopause as being like a hurricane – dangerous and deadly, and admitted it was like living with a stranger while Kathryn was going through it.

Alongside these powerful reflections, Kathryn shared research-backed insights and practical guidance, pointing attendees towards her book, How to Survive Menopause Without Losing Your Mind.

Her talk sparked important conversations and gave businesses plenty to think about when it comes to supporting employees and creating more understanding workplaces.
